Sexual assault suspect Tyler Reece Livingston of Emeryville, California, a 25-year-old swim teacher, pleaded not guilty to multiple charges of sexual assault against young boys during his arraignment in Oakland. Livingston is facing nine felony counts, including sex crimes against children, as well as gun and drug-related charges. His bail was denied pending a hearing later in the week.
The charges stem from accusations by two boys, ages 6 and 9, who reported sexual abuse during swimming lessons. Further investigation revealed three more victims. When police searched Livingston’s home, they discovered an unregistered firearm, high-capacity magazines, ammunition, suspected cocaine, and children’s clothing.
Livingston’s attorney, Valery Nechay, argued for bail, citing his community ties and lack of a criminal record, but the prosecution emphasized the severity of the repeated offenses. Superior Court Judge Elena Condes denied bail but scheduled a hearing to reconsider in four days. Authorities are continuing to investigate and are seeking additional information from potential victims or witnesses.
Authorities are still investigating Tyler Reece Livingston and are urging any potential victims or anyone with information to contact the Berkeley Police Department’s Youth Services Unit at 510-981-5715 or the Emeryville Police Department’s Investigations Unit at 510-596-3733.
