San Jose State’s Scott Shaw has ben accused of inappropriately touching female athletes during his time as their director of sports medicine. Accusations agains Shaw include touching athletes beneath their undergarments, massaging breasts and pelvic regions while seeking treatment for other body parts.
Complaints against Shaw began in 2009 leveled by 17 members of the San Jose State swimming & diving team coach Sage Hopkins. Campus police were notified and given nearly 300 pages of documents related to the assaults yet Shaw was never arrested and continues to hold his position at the college.
The California State College has stated Shaw is currently not treating athletes during the ongoing investigation yet critics are drawing similarities to Michigan State Universities’ handling of the case against Larry Nassar.
